Amanda Scales, Ex-Musk Hire Who Helped Lead DOGE, Returns to xAI
Amanda Scales, a former HR executive at xAI who previously assisted Elon Musk with the Department of Government Efficiency initiative during her tenure at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, has rejoined xAI, according to a report by The New York Times.
Scales’ return to xAI marks a continuation of her work in talent acquisition. According to her LinkedIn profile, she resumed her role in the company’s talent division in April. Prior to her government service, Scales held positions in human resources and talent at Human Capital, a San Francisco-based venture capital firm, and at Uber.
This move comes as Musk signals a potential shift away from his heavy involvement with DOGE and a reduced presence in Washington. Last month, Musk reportedly told Wall Street analysts of his intention to dedicate more time to his various companies, including Tesla.
Tesla has faced sales challenges since Musk increased his focus on DOGE. An open letter from a group of employees calling for his removal as CEO was published last month, highlighting the internal strain caused by his divided attention, according to TechCrunch.
