Apple TV’s tvOS 26 Unveils ‘Liquid Glass’ Interface and Enhanced User Profiles
Apple has introduced tvOS 26, the latest iteration of its Apple TV operating system, at WWDC 2025. The update brings a sleek “Liquid Glass” aesthetic, promising an unobtrusive and visually appealing user interface (TechCrunch).
A prominent enhancement in tvOS 26 is the streamlined profile-switching feature. Upon waking from sleep, Apple TV will now display user profile options, allowing family members to effortlessly select their accounts and resume their favorite content. This simplifies the user experience for households with multiple viewers.
The Apple TV app has also undergone a visual refresh, showcasing new poster art on the main screen to maximize the display of available shows and movies. Furthermore, the Control Center, which facilitates actions such as setting sleep timers and adjusting audio, now incorporates the Liquid Glass design. This ensures that the video content remains the focal point during viewing.
Developers gain access to a new API in tvOS 26 that integrates app logins with Apple Accounts. This will simplify the sign-in process for users when setting up new devices, reducing friction and enhancing the overall user experience.
The design aims to keep the interface clean and non-intrusive, ensuring the focus remains on the content being watched. The Liquid Glass effect also extends to the Control Center.
With these updates, Apple continues to refine the Apple TV experience, focusing on both aesthetics and user convenience.
