Here’s what’s coming to macOS Tahoe: A Sleek Redesign and Enhanced AI Features

Apple unveiled the new macOS Tahoe at its WWDC conference, packed with updates centered around Apple Intelligence, seamless iPhone continuity, and a smarter Spotlight search.

The “Liquid Glass” design is making its way to macOS Tahoe, offering a visually appealing and highly customizable interface. Finally, users can personalize their folder icons with any color they desire. This design refresh mirrors iOS 26 with its reflective and transparent aesthetic, reminiscent of real glass. Beyond the visual enhancements, Apple Intelligence powers several upgrades that improve the overall user experience.

macOS Tahoe enhances iPhone integration by displaying Live Activities directly from iOS, mirroring features like those seen on the Dynamic Island. Thanks to Continuity, Mac users will gain access to a dedicated Phone app for the first time, incorporating iOS Phone app updates such as Call Screening and Hold Assist. Live Translation is also coming to the Phone, Messages, and FaceTime apps, making communication even more seamless.

Spotlight is receiving significant upgrades powered by Apple’s AI. It will now deliver more intelligent results, predicting user intent and suggesting actions based on common tasks or current workflows.

Spotlight will also enable users to perform actions directly within the search interface. The WWDC keynote demo showcased an executive composing and sending an email entirely within Spotlight, bypassing the Mail app.

Quick Keys are another addition, letting users create custom shortcuts to trigger specific actions. For example, typing “AR” could add a reminder, while “SM” could send a message.

macOS Tahoe will also inherit many iOS 26 updates, including Genmoji and Image Playground enhancements, AI-powered reminders, a dedicated Apple Games app, message backgrounds and polls, and a revamped FaceTime landing page. The Journal app will also be available on macOS.

Apple has announced that macOS Tahoe will be released in the fall, with a public beta launching next month. Developers can already access an early version.
