Litehaus Secures €1.46M Pre-Seed to Revolutionize Home Building with Tech Platform
Litehaus, a startup aiming to streamline the home-building process, has raised €1.46 million in a pre-seed funding round. The investment was co-led by U.K.’s Cornerstone VC and Explorer Fund, a prominent private equity fund in Portugal, with participation from Claster Group and angel investor Pascal Levy.
Founded by Thibault Launay and Simi, Litehaus seeks to address the inefficiencies and challenges prevalent in the construction industry. Inspired by their own frustrating experience building a home in Portugal, the founders developed a platform to connect landowners and property developers with construction professionals, including companies, architects, contractors, and interior designers.
“Fourteen months of delays, 20% budget overruns, and endless stress managing over 10 subcontractors,” Thibault Launay recalled, detailing the problems that led to the creation of Litehaus.
Litehaus positions itself as the “Uber of construction,” aiming to consolidate fragmented parts of the home-building process. The platform enables users to track costs, coordinate schedules, and monitor building progress in real-time.
The company emphasizes modular construction as a core strategy, claiming it can build homes 30% cheaper, 40% faster, and 60% more sustainably, with significantly reduced waste and CO2 emissions compared to traditional methods.
Rodney Appiah, a managing partner at Cornerstone VC, highlighted the critical need for innovative solutions in the European housing market: “The shortage of housing across Europe has triggered a crisis, driving up the cost of living as home ownership becomes increasingly out of reach.” He praised Litehaus’ vision for simplifying the home-building process and bringing transparency, sustainability, quality, and trust to the industry.
The fresh capital will be used to scale the company, expand its team in engineering, product, marketing, and operations, and further its expansion plans, particularly in the U.S. market.
Simi Launay emphasized the potential impact of Litehaus: “Providing affordable homes at scale isn’t just a market opportunity—it’s one of the most meaningful ways we can create deep, lasting impact.”
Despite their challenges in building their own home, which faced significant delays, the founders are now close to moving in, further fueling their determination to solve these issues for others.
