Snapchat Unveils New Lens Studio Tools for Bitmoji Game Creation

Snap is empowering AR creators and developers with new tools in Lens Studio to build engaging Bitmoji games. The company has exclusively revealed to TechCrunch the launch of Lens Studio 5.10, which includes a new Bitmoji Suite and fresh game assets.

Lens Studio 5.10 introduces novel ways for developers to construct dynamic game Lenses. A key feature is the turn-based system, enabling interactive gameplay where users can Snap and respond to challenges within the same game.

The update also includes a customizable Character Controller, designed to support various gameplay styles such as third-person, first-person, side-scroller, and top-down perspectives. The leaderboard has been revamped with new templates for start and end screens, offering a standardized view of friends and global scores, along with friend-related metrics like “friends who have played.”

The Bitmoji Suite provides tools for personalizing and animating Bitmojis. Users can now design custom outfits, generate stylized props, and animate them using Snap’s library.

Snap is also launching a collection of single-player and turn-based Bitmoji Game Lenses, including Bitmoji Bistro, Bitmoji Buckets, and Beatmoji Blast, allowing users to challenge their friends in these new experiences.

While users can already access game Lenses built by AR developers, this marks the first time Snap has introduced a collection of Bitmoji Game Lenses designed around challenging friends.

“Lens Studio empowers our vibrant community of over 375,000 AR creators, developers, and teams to seamlessly build and publish Lenses, so we’re excited to give them even more tools to create,” Snap said.

Snapchat is also encouraging developers to participate in the Bitmojiverse Challenge for a chance to win cash prizes by utilizing Bitmoji Suite and Games assets.
