WhatsApp Officially Launches Dedicated iPad App with Enhanced Features

WhatsApp has officially launched its dedicated iPad app, Meta announced on Tuesday, bringing much-awaited support to iPad users. This new app allows users to leverage the full potential of their iPads for WhatsApp communication, offering features previously unavailable on the web-based version.

The iPad app supports video and audio calls with up to 32 participants, enabling seamless communication for both personal and professional use. Users can also share their screens during calls, making collaboration and presentations easier than ever. Furthermore, the app supports both front and back cameras, providing flexibility during video calls.

One of the key advantages of the new iPad app is its integration with iPadOS multitasking features. Users can now take advantage of Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over to enhance their productivity. For example, they can view multiple apps simultaneously, send messages while browsing the web, or research travel options during a call without switching away from WhatsApp.

WhatsApp also confirmed that the new iPad app is fully compatible with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil, offering users additional input options for composing messages and interacting with the app.

The dedicated iPad app ensures seamless synchronization across devices, including iPhones, Macs, and other devices where WhatsApp is installed. All personal messages, calls, and media remain protected with WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption, maintaining user privacy and security.

The launch of the iPad app was subtly teased on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday, building anticipation among users.

Notably, Instagram, another Meta-owned platform, is also reportedly developing a dedicated iPad app, signaling a broader push towards optimizing user experiences on tablet devices. This information was reported by The Information.

The dedicated WhatsApp iPad app is now available for download on the App Store. Download it here.
