Gmail’s new ‘Manage subscriptions’ tool will help declutter your inbox
Google has officially rolled out a significant new feature for Gmail: the ‘Manage subscriptions’ tool, designed to offer users an effortless way to organize their inboxes and escape the deluge of unwanted emails. Announced on Tuesday, this highly anticipated tool is set to revolutionize how users handle their email subscriptions across web, Android, and iOS platforms, initially launching in select countries.
The ‘Manage subscriptions’ feature centralizes control, allowing users to view and manage all their subscription-based emails from a single, intuitive interface. This means no more hunting through individual emails or visiting external websites to unsubscribe; a few clicks are all it takes to free your inbox from irrelevant content.
Within the new tool, users will find their active subscriptions neatly organized, primarily by the frequency of emails received from each sender over the past few weeks. This clear overview includes the exact number of emails sent by each entity. Clicking on a specific sender provides a direct view of all correspondence from them, making it simple to review before making a decision. When a user chooses to unsubscribe, Gmail handles the request seamlessly on their behalf, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free process.
“It can be easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of subscription emails clogging your inbox: Daily deal alerts that are basically spam, weekly newsletters from blogs you no longer read, promotional emails from retailers you haven’t shopped in years can quickly pile up,” commented Chris Doan, Gmail’s director of product, in an official blog post regarding the launch.

Users can easily access this new capability by navigating to the top-left corner of their Gmail inbox, clicking the navigation bar, and selecting “Manage subscriptions.”
The introduction of this tool wasn’t entirely unexpected, as tech enthusiasts and some users had already spotted early indications of its development back in April. This new feature complements Gmail’s existing suite of inbox management tools, including the highly effective one-click unsubscribe tool that rolled out last year, further solidifying Gmail’s commitment to user-friendly email management.
The rollout commenced on the web starting Tuesday, with Android users expected to receive the feature on July 14, followed by iOS users on July 21. Google anticipates that it may take up to 15 days from the start of the rollout for the feature to reach all eligible users. The ‘Manage subscriptions’ tool is available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and individuals using personal Google accounts.
