Apple’s New Siri Poised to Control Apps with Voice Commands

Apple has long promised a more intelligent Siri, with a significant upgrade demonstrated in 2024 showcasing its ability to connect deeply with various applications for information retrieval. However, this highly anticipated “new, intelligent Siri” has yet to be released, with reports indicating development challenges.

Now, a new report from Bloomberg suggests Apple is actively testing a version of Siri that could revolutionize user interaction by allowing it to perform actions across different apps based solely on voice commands. This advancement is tied to an updated version of App Intents, Apple’s framework that enables developers to grant users access to app functionalities through various interfaces, including search and Shortcuts.

If this integration proves successful, users could potentially instruct Siri to perform complex tasks such as finding a specific photo, editing it, and sending it to a contact, posting updates on social media platforms, or logging into services, all through spoken requests.

Apple is reportedly already testing this powerful voice control feature with a range of popular applications, including Uber, AllTrails, Threads, Temu, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, and WhatsApp. This development aligns with previous Bloomberg reports suggesting that Apple is targeting Spring 2026 for the release of its significantly overhauled Siri AI upgrade.

This move signifies Apple’s commitment to enhancing its AI capabilities and providing more seamless, integrated user experiences across its ecosystem.
