Cursor’s Anysphere Valued at $9.9B After $900M Raise, Surpassing $500M ARR
Anysphere, the company behind the AI coding assistant Cursor, has secured $900 million in a recent funding round, catapulting its valuation to an impressive $9.9 billion, according to Bloomberg. The funding was led by Thrive Capital, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Accel, and DST Global.
This marks Anysphere’s third funding round in under a year. The company previously raised $100 million at a $2.5 billion pre-money valuation, as reported by TechCrunch.
AI coding assistants are growing in popularity, with Cursor leading the pack. Anysphere’s annualized revenue (ARR) has been doubling roughly every two months. Sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that the company has exceeded $500 million in ARR, a 60% increase from the $300 million reported in mid-April.
Cursor offers developers tiered pricing options. Following a two-week free trial, users can convert to paying customers, opting for a $20 Pro subscription or a $40 monthly business subscription.
Initially, the majority of Anysphere’s revenue came from individual user subscriptions. However, the company now offers enterprise licenses, allowing businesses to purchase the application for their teams at a premium.
Earlier in the year, Anysphere was approached by potential buyers, including OpenAI, but declined the offers. OpenAI instead acquired Windsurf, another AI assistant, reportedly for $3 billion, according to TechCrunch.
