Gravitee Secures $60 Million to Revolutionize API Management

Gravitee, a leading platform in API management, has successfully raised $60 million in a Series C funding round. This significant investment was led by Sixth Street Growth, with notable participation from Riverside Acceleration Capital and Albion VC.

The newly acquired capital brings Gravitee’s total funding to over $125 million. According to CEO Rory Blundell, these funds will be strategically allocated to fuel the development of innovative product features and facilitate Gravitee’s expansion into new and emerging markets.

In today’s complex data landscape, APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) play a crucial role in enabling different applications to communicate and exchange data. However, the proliferation of various tools and protocols can lead to blind spots and hinder innovation. Gravitee aims to address this challenge by providing a unified control plane that integrates disparate systems.

“Companies are rapidly integrating AI agents, streaming data, APIs, and hybrid systems,” stated Blundell. “This acceleration exposes them to major risks concerning the security, observability, and control of their API and event infrastructure.”

Founded in 2015 by Rory Blundell, Azize Elamrani, David Brassely, Nicolas Géraud, and Titouan Compiegne, Gravitee started as an open-source project and has since evolved into a thriving business. The company offers paid services to support the ongoing development of its freely available software.

The Gravitee platform offers flexible deployment options, including on-premises, self-hosted, and software-as-a-service (SaaS). Key features include tools for designing and deploying APIs, as well as a comprehensive dashboard for visualizing API deployments.

Gravitee faces competition from companies like Blobr, which specializes in software for exposing and monetizing enterprise APIs, and StepZen, a company focused on developing graph tech to connect and visualize APIs. StepZen is a key competitor in the API space.

A key differentiator for Gravitee is its support for both asynchronous and synchronous APIs, a capability not universally offered by other vendors.

Gravitee boasts hundreds of customers, including prominent names such as Blue Yonder, Michelin, Roche, and Tide. The company reported an impressive $22 million in annual recurring revenue for fiscal year 2024.

Currently employing around 130 individuals, Gravitee plans to expand its workforce to approximately 200 by the end of the year.
