Netflix’s Tudum Event Draws Thousands, Unveils ‘Stranger Things 5’ Release Date
Netflix’s annual Tudum event, a global showcase of its upcoming content, drew a massive crowd of 9,500 fans to the Kia Forum in Southern California. This year’s Tudum (named after Netflix’s signature startup sound) featured a flurry of announcements and trailers for highly anticipated projects, including “Squid Game,” “Wednesday,” and the final season of “Stranger Things”.
For the first time, Tudum was livestreamed directly on Netflix, expanding its reach beyond YouTube. The Los Angeles Times reports the event was a star-studded affair, with appearances from celebrities like Lady Gaga, who is set to guest-star on “Wednesday” and even performed at the event.
Netflix Chief Marketing Officer Marian Lee highlighted the unique ability of Netflix to unite diverse fan groups. “That is something only Netflix can do,” Lee stated, emphasizing the platform’s broad appeal, bringing together fans of WWE, “Knives Out,” and Lady Gaga under one roof.
Among the key announcements, the most prominent was the release plan for “Stranger Things 5,” the show’s final season. It will be split into three parts, with the first airing on November 26 and the finale on New Year’s Eve. Additionally, Guillermo del Toro’s new take on “Frankenstein,” slated for November, is generating significant excitement among fans.
The event underscored Netflix’s continued dominance in the streaming landscape and its commitment to delivering a wide range of content to its global audience.
