Scale AI Acquires Pesto AI Team to Enhance Remote Developer Recruitment Capabilities
Scale AI, a prominent data-labeling startup, has recently acquired the team behind Pesto AI, a platform specializing in remote developer recruitment. This strategic move, detailed in a blog post by one of Pesto’s founders, signals Scale AI’s intent to bolster its capabilities in leveraging AI for talent acquisition.
Pesto AI, established in 2017 by Ayush Jaiswal and Rahul Jaimini (co-founder of Swiggy), has garnered significant backing from notable figures such as Product Hunt’s Ryan Hoover and Gumroad’s Sahil Lavingia. The startup has reportedly raised over $8 million in funding, according to Crunchbase, highlighting its potential in the competitive landscape of remote developer recruitment.
As part of this acquisition, Pesto AI will be ceasing its operations. The LinkedIn page of Pesto AI indicates a team of 71 employees, although it remains unclear how many of these individuals will be joining Scale AI.
Ayush Jaiswal, now Head of Growth at Scale AI, expressed his enthusiasm in the blog post, stating, “Earlier this year, I made the exciting decision to join Scale. This move marks the next chapter in a journey I’ve been deeply passionate about for years—exploring how we can harness the power of AI to create meaningful opportunities for people around the world.”
Prior reports suggest that Pesto AI was also involved in developer education initiatives during its early stages, further contributing to its reputation within the tech community.
Scale AI has not yet responded to requests for comments regarding the acquisition and its strategic implications.
